Charles S. (Stan) Yirak

Charles S. (Stan) Yirak was born on June 9, 1924, to Charles J. and Marie R. (Risch) Yirak in Ouray, Colo., and passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Liberty Lake, Wash.

Stan was married to Betty Wynes on April 20, 1945 and to this union six children were born: Liz Young, Dave (Carol) Yirak, Joan (Mike) Zimbelman, Alan (Stacy) Yirak, Jim (Young) Yirak and Paul (Keri) Yirak.

Stan served in the US Navy and worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for most of his life which brought him to this area in 1968, when the third powerhouse was being constructed. Stan was gifted with many talents. He was an avid gardener, artist, woodcarver. He could fix anything and everything. He was known for his wit and helping neighbors and friends. His family was his greatest joy along with his community and church. Stan knew his Bible and found peace and strength in God's word.

Stan is survived by his six children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, his sister Charlain Cesena and brother-in-law James Wynes.

He is preceded in death by his wife Betty and son-in-law Don Young.

Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 1 p.m., at the Hartline Methodist Church, Hartline, Wash., with Pastor Merrill Spence, officiating. A family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Hartline Fire Dept. or the Hartline Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home, Wilbur, is caring for the family.
