Raider baseball is on a winning streak after defeating both Manson and Oroville last week.
Lake Roosevelt soundly defeated the Trojans on their home field at Manson 21-9 on March 25. Then on Saturday, the Raiders went north to take two from the Oroville Hornets by the scores of 11-0 and 9-5.
Devan Black picked up two wins on the mound last week, including the game-one shutout. Head Coach Billy Nicholson praised Black for his pitching and looks forward to more in the upcoming weeks.
Supporting Black at the plate, were the hot bats of Taren Redstar and Daniel Loch. At Manson, Redstar hit the cycle (home run, triple, double, and single) and continued to connect against the Hornets. Loch was 4 of 5 at Manson and has become an offensive asset for the Raiders as the season moves forward.
“We need to continue to improve on our defense and we need to string more hits together,” Nicholson said, looking ahead. “We look forward to some great competition over spring break, including a home game on Saturday versus Tonasket.”
Spring Break will be a busy week for baseball. Tomorrow the JV travels to Okanogan for a 2 p.m. game against the Bulldogs. On Friday, the Raiders travel to Moses Lake to take on the Colton Wildcats at Big Bend Community College starting at 12:30 p.m. Then on Saturday the Raiders return home to play a doubleheader against the Tonasket Tigers with the JV taking the field at 11 a.m. and the varsity playing after the conclusion of the JV game.
