First two-meet week successful for Raiders

Lake Roosevelt’s track and field team travelled to Davenport April 15 and to Quincy on Saturday for the first of three two-meet weeks in a row.

At Davenport, the Raider boys finished sixth overall with 54 team points, and the Raider girls took seventh with 34.

“The Raiders had strong team results due to many individuals’ PR’s,” said Head Coach Lori Adkins on the success at Davenport. “It was a very powerful showing for LR.”

Nearly every member of the boys’ squad, and several of the girs, earned a personal record in at least one event at Davenport.

Nathaniel Hall recorded three PRs and placed in all three of his events. In the 100-meter dash, Hall finished second with a time of 12.01 seconds. At the 400, Hall took home first place at the PR time of 57.17. Then in his last event of the day, Hall finished the 200 with a PR of 24.71 seconds for third place.

Coltin Williams and Josh Wilder placed with Hall in the 400, taking fifth and seventh in 1:01.16 and 1:02.68, respectively. Both times were PRs. In the 300-meter hurdles, Will Friedlander and Cameron Tillman ran neck and neck, finishing fifth and sixth, with Friedlander edging out Tillman by five-hundredths of a second.

In the pole vault, Coltin Williams recorded a PR vault of 10 feet to capture third place. Gene Fenton was fourth for the meet, with the PR vault of 8 feet. Friedlander placed third in the triple jump with a 2-foot PR leap of 33 feet, 9.5 inches.

For the Raider girls, Chyenne Kelly-Marconi placed in all four of her events. In the 100-meter hurdles Kelly-Marconi finished third 18.42. She also took third in the long jump with the mark of 14-3. Her highest placing came in the triple jump, where she hopped, skipped, and jumped 31-5.5 for second place. Back on the track for the 400, Kelly-Marconi took home fourth with 1:12.22.

Mary Ann Matheson placed fifth in the 1600 with the time of 7:44.11. Clare Castrodale ran the 3200 in 16:33.7, which placed her fourth at Davenport. Alexis Tanphantourath earned a PR in the Javelin with a throw of 48 feet, 2 inches.

At Quincy April 19, the Raiders faced greater competition and finished 23rd with .33 team points for the boys and tied for 21st with Wellpinit with 2 team points for the girls’ squad.

“We experimented with a few new events for athletes to zero in on strength areas,” Adkins said. “Several PR’s were made.”

Coltin Williams was the only boy to place at Quincy, vaulting 10 feet to tie Connor Martin of Ephrata and Jack Yorgeson of Wahluke for eighth place.

Kelly-Marconi was the only girl to place, taking home eighth in two events. She finished eighth in the 400 in 1:08.11, a new PR. She also finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.65 seconds.

Nathan Morrell threw PRs in both the shot and discus at Quincy. In the shot put, Morrell threw 34 feet, 7 inches. The discus he threw 90 feet, 3 inches.

Gene Fenton vaulted to new heights, clearing the 8-6 standard. Cameron Tillman PR’ed in the 400 with the time of 1:02.56. Matthew Tillman finished the 200 in 28.79, a new PR.
