Baseball goes two for three

The league-leading Mountain Lions held the Raiders to one run April 22 at Liberty Bell, defeating Lake Roosevelt 6-1, but LR did not stay down, as the Billygoats were to discover.

The Pateros Billygoats travelled to Greene Field Saturday for a doubleheader that was pushed ahead from 11 a.m. to 9:30 for the first game.

The earlier start did not faze the new Raider defense, as both pitching and fielding shut out the Billygoats in the first game, which LR needed just two runs to win.

In the second game, Pateros bats awakened and the Raiders came through by the skin of their teeth 3-2.

LR’s win-loss record is now 9-6 overall and 8-2 in league play.

This week the Raiders hosted the Oroville Hornets last night and will travel to Bridgeport Saturday to take on the Mustangs. Bridgeport lost to the Raiders 10-0 on April 15. The Mustangs lost the next three games before picking up a doubleheader win over Oroville last Saturday. Games at Bridgeport start at 11 a.m.
