The Raiders extended their win streak to five games last week with wins at home and away.
Lake Roosevelt took on the Hornets at Greene Field April 29, but Oroville did not roll over easily. The game was close but the Raiders pulled ahead and stayed ahead to win by four runs, 9-5.
LR travelled to Bridgeport May 3 for a doubleheader against the Mustangs, who were on a three-game win streak and looking to upset the Raiders’ winning ways.
But LR did not allow the Mustangs to make it a game. The Raiders blew past the Mustangs, cruising to two wins, made to look easy by LR’s deep pitching staff.
Coach Billy Nicholson credited pitcher Devin Black with the first-game win, 21-8 in five innings.
In the second game, Tyrell Kiser struck out 13 batters in six innings for the 13-3 win.
LR closed out the regular season last night at home against the league-leading Liberty Bell Mt. Lions. LR lost their two previous meetings with the Mt. Lions in April, 7-1 and 6-1.
Now the Raiders are preparing for districts at Wenatchee Valley College. The Raiders are the number-two team from the north half of Central Washington 2B and will take on White Swan, the number-three team from the south, May 12 at 10 a.m. in a loser-out game.
