Raider golfers competed in their last two events of the 2014 season May 6 at Oroville and last night at Banks Lake Golf Course.
At Oroville, the Raiders competed against a large Hornet squad and a lone Tonasket Tiger. On the 18-hole course the Hornets came away the victors on the boys’ side. For the girls it was a close contest, but they were scored as individuals as only five girls competed in the match.
Mikel Friedlander was the girls’ medalist with a 124 strokes, beating out Jordyn Smith of Oroville by one. Madisyn Byam came in third with a score of 133.
Austin Rosenbaum finished fourth among the boys, leading the Raiders with a score of 102. Brandon Desautel tied with Rosenbaum.
“Brandon Desautel gave a strong performance for the second week in a row,” Head Coach Steve Files noted. “He looks comfortable out there.”
Alex Garcia finished not far behind the leaders for the team, shooting a 104.
“Alex Garcia turned in his best 18-hole score of the year on a difficult track,” Files said. “He’s making excellent progress.”
The last match of the season finished last night.
“Our kids have displayed a positive attitude all season and been a pleasure to work with,” Files said.
Now the Raiders are preparing for districts at Lake Chelan Municipal Golf Course May 19, starting at 2:30 pm. Out of districts, the top five boys and top six girls will advance to the State B Golf Tournament at Oakbrook Golf Course in Lakewood May 28.
