Police
6/9 - A person called police about a dog that had been left in a vehicle on Main Street during the heat of the day. Police called the firm and the situation was solved.
- A Grand Coulee woman who had been banned from Safeway for a year, was arrested and cited for trespassing when she entered the store before the year was concluded. She had been banned for the theft of groceries, the report stated.
- Two brothers, who reside on Hill Avenue, were arrested and taken to Grant County Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault. One of the two told police that they were just trying to find out who was tougher.
- Police went to an address on Cardinal Road when a person there said someone had pointed a gun at another person. When told that they were not wanted on the property, the person with the gun and others left on foot leaving their vehicle behind. The vehicle was towed and police, while taking inventory of what was inside, found a Glock gun and bullets. Police could not find the suspects.
6/10 - Police found a vehicle with its light on and running in the parking lot of Jess Ford in the middle of the night. After looking for the owner of the vehicle police took the keys and secured it, and are awaiting contact by the owner.
- Police found two boys in a building playing with their toy guns. They were told that they shouldn’t be in the building and were turned over to their parents. The boys were 8 and 12 years old.
6/11 - A man on Stevens Avenue in Electric City was cited for breach of the peace for playing music too loud in his truck. He refused to give the first officer information until the second officer showed up. He had been warned before for loud music.
6/12 - An officer served civil papers on behalf of the Whatcom County clerk’s office on a resident of Burdin Boulevard.
- A man on Burdin Boulevard told police that a man threatened him about his dog pooping in the yard next door. Police told the man it was a civil matter. He asked if he could defend himself if it came to that and was assured he could if he used equal force.
- A man who was reported as causing problems with an employee at Safeway was being sought and will be banned from the store for a year at Safeway’s request.
- Police called the city crew after finding that a tree had been blown over and was blocking traffic on Nelson Road.
6/13 - Police checked on a report of a man yelling outside The Wolf’s Den on Main Street. Police found a man who had a bloody nose and a small laceration on his forehead. Others nearby said the man who had hit him had left. The officer told all of the people that had gathered to leave the area.
- A man on Mead Avenue reported to police that a woman from a nearby residence came over to complain that his former girl friend was driving by at a high rate of speed. He said he had no control over how fast she drove and didn’t want the woman to come over anymore.
6/14 - Police responded to a 911 call on the death of a woman on Division Street. The coroner was called and reported that a postmortem examination would be made to determine the cause of death.
6/15 - A Kent man was stopped for driving 70 mph across the causeway. Police were interested in the man and vehicle after it was reported that the occupants had driven to H&H Grocery in Electric City and broken open a container holding firewood, taking several bundles. The man is being charged with theft and malicious mischief, both in the third degree.
- USBR Plant Protection called about a strange package in the 115 kV Switchyard parking lot. Police found a cooler near a vehicle with its lid open. A man said he had spilled something inside and was letting the cooler air out.

6/9 - A man on Central Drive complained that his neighbor had undermined his dog kennel area by spraying water under the fence. Police went next door and could see that the woman hadn’t sprayed under the fence. She said the man called her a bad name repeatedly so she sprayed him with her hose. The man stated that he had hoped that a tribal officer would respond. He complained that the officer was taking sides. Both parties were warned that if police were called back someone might go to jail.
6/10 - A man reported that a window had been broken in his vehicle while he was on an EMT call with the fire department. Nothing was taken.
- A woman on Birch Street reported that two youth had come to her house and asked for help because of the way their mother’s boyfriend had been threatening them. Since the two were Native American, Colville Tribal Police were called.
6/11 - Police were called because a man was sleeping on the floor of the post office. The man told police that he went into the post office to get warm and didn’t know anything until police woke him.
6/13 - Police responded to Convalescent Boulevard in Nespelem on an assist call because a man with a knife appeared suicidal. By the time police got there tribal police had him in the back of their patrol car.
6/15 - Police arrested a man, who said he had consumed a 12-pack in the past three hours, for domestic violence against his wife, who said he gets violent when he drinks. He was taken to Okanogan County Jail.
