Police

6/30 - While cleaning out a vehicle at Jack’s Four Corners, a worker found what he thought was a controlled substance and called the police. Since the vehicle had been involved in a weapons offense, the material was held for a Grant County Sheriff officer.

- A man and a woman were arrested after an incident on Kelso Avenue in Electric City. A Nespelem man, still at large, is also being sought. The Nespelem man allegedly pointed a gun at the other man, demanding a backpack containing a laptop computer and a cell phone. The Nespelem man was taken to his home, and the party that took him ended up with the stolen material. Charges include first-degree robbery, possession of stolen material, and criminal conspiracy.

- A woman on Bowen Street told police that a man had slapped her and then threatened her and her children. Police are looking for the man.

7/1 - A Park Avenue man from Electric City reported the theft of 10 pills. No known suspects.

7/2 - A business owner on Main Street reported that a man walking his dog had his pants pulled down showing his private parts. When the man was asked for his name, he replied, “God,” according to the report. The man refused to pull his pants up and called the businessman “punk white boy.” He told the businessman that he had a .38 and would shoot and kill him. Police are looking for the man.

- Police were told that vacuum cleaner sales people were calling on residents in Electric City without a business license. They were told to stop calling on people and the three sales people left the area.

- A woman complained that a check she had made out to a local business had been changed with a man’s initials when cashed. Police are recommending that the prosecutor charge the man with forgery.

- 7/3 - Plant Protection told police that someone was staying at the lower Visitor Center parking lot. The man told police that he was a vendor and would be working in the park. He was told that vendors were allowed to stay in the upper parking lot. The man went to the upper lot.

- A man reported to police that someone had been opening his wife’s mail. The report is being sent to the U.S. Postal Service for review.

- A woman complained that she thought a vacuum cleaner sales person was stalking her. She said it was the third time she had been contacted by the vacuum company. The salesperson had just finished cleaning her floor when police arrived. The man said his boss had purchased a business license. Police are checking on the incident.

- A missing wallet turned up for a man who thought he had left it on a table at Electric City Bar and Grille. His wife had it.

- A woman who reported that she had seen two men inside a metal building later determined that it might have been clouds reflected on the window. Police checked it out and the building was secure.

7/4 - Plant Protection requested that an officer check on vehicles parked where they were not suppose to at the Visitor Center lower parking lot. The parties told police that a chamber of commerce official said they could park there.

- A bottle of “Nytro” (heart medicine) was found at the lower Visitor Center parking lot and given to the chamber of commerce by a member of the Bureau of Reclamation Fire Department.

- An officer assisted a Vietnam veteran who was having a difficult time with all the fireworks going off near King’s Court RV Park. The officer stayed with the man until he quieted down.

- USBR Plant Protection advised police that a woman was in an accident at Visitor Center lower parking lot. The woman told police that a man on a bicycle hit her vehicle on the rear fender. The bike rider was sitting on the curb when the officer arrived. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, and the bike didn’t have brakes. The man was taken to Coulee Medical Center for observation, and the woman was cited for not having insurance.

7/5 - A woman at Sunbanks Lake Resort reported that while she had gone to get supplies someone opened the cash register and took $400 in $20 bills.

- Police checked on a burglary and threat on Kelso Avenue in Electric City and learned that a woman who was reportedly armed with a pocket knife forced her way into a house and made threats against another women and then when she was forced out of the house tried to take a vehicle that was in the driveway. Police are looking for the woman.

- Dispatch informed police of a 6-year-old child found at the fire department. The child said he was afraid. When the mother was found she said she thought all of her children were in the van when she took her husband to work.

- Police checked on an alarm at Center Lodge Motel and found that doors were not secure. A check of the area revealed that no one was inside and nothing apparently missing.

- Tribal police requested assistance at Coulee Medical Center to control an unruly suspect who was being checked to see if he was OK to be taken to jail. The officer assisted in getting the man into the tribal police vehicle for transport.

7/6 - A Ferry Avenue woman from Coulee Dam said that a fire started when she and her brother were shooting guns at Washington Flats. She went to a nearby home and called the fire department.

- An officer assisted wildlife personnel who were questioning suspects in a reckless fire incident.

- A report of a burglary at a Fortuyn Road residence was later reported as an error.

6/29 - Police checked on an assault incident at a residence on Cedar Street. A man said his brother had struck him with a closed fist and there was blood all over him. Since both parties were tribal members a tribal officer was called to complete the investigation.

7/1 - A woman on Camas Street told police that a young man had been standing in her front lawn at about 5 a.m. and then urinated and walked off. She said she never saw him again.

7/3 - Police were advised that a reporting party on Stevens Avenue said that a vacuum cleaning salesman was in the area without a business license. He told police that an officer in Grand Coulee told him to go down the hill and sell there. He told police that he had a business license from Grand Coulee and didn’t know he needed a different one for Coulee Dam.

- Police checked on a man and woman yelling at one another at a residence on Pine Street. They said they took their yelling outside so they wouldn’t wake a baby asleep inside.

7/4 - A Portland man staying in a tent at a Pine Street residence said someone came by shaking his tent and yelling profanities at him. He said the person returned about 45 minutes later and did the same thing.
