News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area
Students in the local area have had opportunities to sharpen their skills in preparation for the GED exams, improve workplace skills, and prepare for college; and that’s still true. Now, however, adults who lack a high school diploma have a new way to get a second chance. It’s called “High School 21+,” a competency-based high school diploma offered at Washington’s community and technical colleges.
Adults 21 years old and older can combine Big Bend Basic Skills courses with a variety of prior experiences to earn a high school diploma. An instructor and BBCC registration personnel will evaluate transcripts, knowledge gained from life experience, as well as any employment and volunteer history to work with the student to craft an educational plan to meet graduation requirements.
For information on how to participate in this program locally, please contact Linda Black at lblack_ged@yahoo.com or 633-3611. Sessions for adult basic skills, GED preparation, and HS21+ begin September 23. Minimum enrollment required.
