Police

- A man from Partello Street called police to say he had picked up a bank bag with a dollar bill and a deposit slip inside. He met an officer and gave the bank bag to him.

- A woman on Young Street told police that a neighbor’s dogs constantly bark at her and it makes it difficult to get her outside work done. Police went to the house but no one would answer the door.

- USBR Plant Protection called to report a man by the waterfall near the administration building. He told the responding officer that he was taking pictures and picking “shaggy mains.” The officer knew that the man was picking mushrooms. He was checked out and didn’t have any warrants outstanding.

10/28 - Police checked on a man who had started a fire near the Catholic Church and explained that he had spent the night in the area and was staying there until the fire went out.

- A woman who was walking in the road near Riley Point was told by police to use the sidewalk provided and stay out of the street. Plant Protection had called and reported that the woman appeared confused.

- Police checked several agencies in an effort to learn whose two helicopters had flown over the 230 Switchyard about 9 p.m. The two helicopters, one with lights and the other unlit, flew low over the facility. It wasn’t determined whose helicopters they were.

10/29 - A woman who loaned her car to a young woman with only a learner’s permit, was cited when she revealed that she knew the driver wasn’t properly licensed.

- Police responded to a 911 hangup call from the Eagles Lodge and learned that a male customer had yelled profanity and knocked over drinks over money that was owed to him. As soon as he saw that the 911 call was made he left the establishment.

- Work on the alarm at North Cascades National Bank brought officers to the facility. As soon as police learned that the alarm was being worked on they left.

10/31 - The city crew at Electric City advised police that some people in a new pickup without a license were asking strange questions. Police arrived but couldn’t locate the pickup.

- Police went to the apartments at Continental Heights to advise a tenant to turn the volume of her music down. After yelling at the other tenants, she turned the volume down.

- The report of a disabled vehicle blocking traffic in front of Bird’s Auto in Electric City revealed that an unmanned vehicle had rolled onto the highway.

11/1 - A woman on Bowen Street agreed to turn the volume of her music down and keep partygoers at the residence inside the house.

- A woman at a Hill Avenue apartment reported that she asked a boyfriend to leave but he had returned several times, knocking on her door. Police were unable to find the man.

- Police responded to a 911 hangup call from a house on “E” Street. Dispatch had reported to police that the caller, a male, was intoxicated. Police spoke with the homeowner, a woman, who was reportedly too intoxicated to understand why they were there. The only male in the house said he didn’t call and that everything was OK.

- A report of a suicidal patient at Coulee Medical Center brought a police officer who learned that a mental health worker was with the patient.

- Police were requested at Coulee Medical Center because workers needed help with a woman who was suicidal. The officer stood by until an ambulance arrived to take the woman to a facility in the Tri-Cities area.

11/3 - A brindle boxer with a collar and no tags was picked up running loose and is being housed at the Grand Coulee animal rescue center. If the owner of the animal would contact the police they would learn how to pick up the animal.

- USBR Dispatch advised police that there had been a theft at H&H Grocery in Electric City. A security camera showed a young man taking a can of Vienna sausages from the shelf, hiding it under his coat, and leaving the store. The man is known by both shore officials and the police. An officer went to the young man’s home but no one was home.

- Police here were asked by Island County officials to make a welfare check on a person living on Jackson Avenue in Electric City. Police went to the house, where there was no car in the driveway and the house was dark. Later, Island County officials said they had been in contact with the man.

11/4 - A man from Burdin Boulevard was arrested and taken to Grant County Jail after a woman complained to police that he had touched her in a sexual way even after she objected. She asked to have a no-contact order be placed against the man so that he couldn’t come near her when he was released from jail.

- Tribal police asked for assistance with traffic control because of a stalled vehicle on the Coulee Dam bridge.

- An Elmer City driver was stopped near the top of the dam when an officer noticed that her license tabs had expired. The officer found she didn’t have insurance. She was cited for both offenses.

- When a man driving a vehicle with no plates was stopped, he told the officer that he had never had a driver’s license, didn’t have a picture identification, and said he didn’t have enough money to take the driver exam. He was cited.

- A man from F Street was stopped for not dimming his lights and not pulling over when the officer turned his siren and lights on. When issued the citation the man said he was going to contact the chief and have this taken care of. The officer advised him that he has every right to contact the chief.

11/5 - A mother and baby were dropped off at the Coulee Medical Center and the attending provider reported that the two had been found along the road and that the baby was soiled and wet. Child Protective Services was called and the incident was turned over to Tribal CPS.

- A truck pulling a stock trailer turned on Prims Place and struck a bumper of a vehicle parked at the library. The two parties exchanged insurance information.

A Spokane driver was stopped because a rear license plate was not visible, and the officer found that she was driving with a suspended license. The report is being sent to the Grant County prosecutor’s office for possible charges.

11/7 - Police had to kill a deer that had been hit by a vehicle at SR-174 and Partello.

- A man with long red hair and wearing a black coat was reported to have taken a bottle of whiskey from Safeway without paying for it. Police looked for him but couldn’t find him.

- USBR Plant Protection reported that an unoccupied vehicle was parked at the south gate of the industrial area. Police stated that when an officer arrived the owner of the vehicle, a Bureau of Reclamation employee, was at the scene.

- Police checked on a report of suspicious orange lights at Crown Point. They arrived and looked around but couldn’t find anything.

11/8 - An officer noticed that a vehicle stopping at Four Corners didn’t have operable brake lights. He stopped the vehicle and found a Spokane driver whose license was suspended. He also found that driver had an interlock requirement. She was cited, and her boyfriend, who had a valid license, came to drive the car.

- Police were called to assist a Wilbur officer about eight miles south of town on SR-174, where had an assault suspect handcuffed. The Grand Coulee officer assisted until a Lincoln County Sheriff deputy arrived.

11/9 - A woman told police that another woman came into her work place and started yelling at her. She felt she was being harassed.

- A law enforcement officer from Hulapi, Arizona asked police to get in touch with a person here to advise her there was a family emergency.

- Plant Protection asked police to check on a man near the overlook area just above Grand Coulee Dam. He had a handheld device attached to an antenna. Police found a man who was involved in an Internet scavenger hunt, and the devise was a GPS unit with an antenna attached.

- A Coulee Dam man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

The arrest was made at a residence on Burdin Boulevard in Grand Coulee. He was taken to Grant County jail.

11/10 - Dispatch advised police that a man was walking near the Four Corners and acting strangely. Police observed a man known to have a warrant out for him and put him in the back of the patrol car. Grant County Jail was full and that they were not taking any new inmates. The man was released but advised that the warrant was still valid.

- Police went to Coulee Medical Center to stand by because of an ambulance patient who was combative. The officer stood by until a Washington State Patrol officer arrived to do an investigation.

10/26 - An officer saw a pit bull loose on River Drive and reported it to the tribal animal control officer.

10/28 - A citizen told police that he had received a number of text and voice messages from a man living in the Columbia View Apartments who stated that his front door had been kicked in and that he suspected the police had done it. The citizen and an officer went to the apartment but the man would not open his door and stated he wanted to be left alone.

10/29 - Police checking on a 911 hang up call from a home on Columbia Avenue learned from a man that a woman had entered his home through a sliding door and grabbed a golf club and threatened to break out the windows of his car. The woman left and later returned stating she was looking for a girl that she thought was there. She left a second time and the man told police that he had worked out the problem with the woman and didn’t want to press charges.

- An officer observed two dogs loose on River Drive. When he went to the door of the house, it was opened and the dogs went inside. The officer told the woman at the door if he found the dogs loose again she would receive a citation.

- A patrol officer stopped a car near Birch that was following another vehicle barely a half car length away. The driver got a warning.

10/30 - A trail of spilled coolant took police to the home of a driver who had backed into a car in the Harvest Foods parking lot and then left the scene. It was learned that the driver did not have a license. The officer had received an eyewitness account from a person in the parking lot who saw the accident occur. Damage to the vehicle that was backed into was estimated at $2,000.

10/31 - An officer leaving a high school football game was shoved by a 25-year-old man trying to get by him. The officer could smell alcohol and noted that the man had an opened container of alcohol in his hand. The man was taken home and advised that he would receive a citation for opening and consuming liquor in a public place.

11/4 - Police responded to a fire alarm at the school where there was smoke from a breaker box, but no flames.

11/6 - Police checked on a vehicle parked on Columbia because it didn’t have a license plate displayed. The officer noted that a plate was placed in the rear window. The vehicle belonged to an Omak resident and the report stated that the vehicle might have had mechanical problems.

11/7 An officer took a Lake Roosevelt student to her home near Nespelem after she had refused to get on her bus. She said the bus was new and she didn’t like it.
