The Star newspaper will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. The deadline for advertising and news is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. The Star office will open at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The Coulee Dam Lions Club will host its 20th annual Valentine’s Day breakfast at the Senior Center from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and ham are on the menu. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 6-10 years old, and $20 for a family.

The Coulee Corridor Consortium will hold its February meeting at Pepper Jack’s Bar & Grille, Feb. 20. The public is invited to attend the noon luncheon and learn about the activity of the CCC, which spans from Othello to Omak.
Tax filing
help available
Local low and middle income residents can get free help on their income tax filing at the Senior Center on Tuesdays between Feb. 10 and April 7. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Volunteers have trained in cooperation with IRS and AARP. You do not need to be members of the Senior Center to take advantage of this help.
Basketball

An annual All Indian Basketball Tournament is scheduled Feb. 13-15, at three separate venues. Games will be played at the Nespelem Community Center, Nespelem Grade School gym, and at the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School gym. More information is available from Larry Jordan (509) 429-1667.
