The Raiders came home from a double header in Bridgeport Saturday with two wins.
Lake Roosevelt was challenged in the first game, with the Mustangs scoring seven runs, but in the end outscored them by two in the 9-7 LR win.
In the second game, the Raiders bats came alive and scored 21 runs. Raider pitching and defense was stingy and gave up only two runs.
In the first game, Chance Garvin and Trey Nicholson went two for four at the plate with a double apiece. Tony Desautel was one for two.
Tyrell Kaiser pitched all eight innings with 18 strikeouts.
Devan Black, in the second game, batted two of four with two triples. Garvin chipped in a double. Trey Nicholson went two for four and Kolby Picard hit one of three. Black was on the mound for three innings in the second game, striking out eight Mustangs. Garvin came in for relief, striking out four Mustangs in two innings of work.
“Our pitchers all threw well,” Head Coach Billy Nicholson stated. “Tyrell Kiser won game one and pitched through adversity of allowing extra outs.”
When it came to the offensive production, Nicholson praised Desautel.
“Tony Desautel started off the scoring with a two-out, two-RBI single to tie the game, 2-2.”
Finally, Coach Nicholson brought forward for praise a great defensive play: “CF Taren Redstar to SS Chance Garvin to C Kolby Picard at home plate ended game 1 in the bottom of the 8th, great to see the defense make a great play to end the game,” he wrote in an email.
