Track continues to build for season

Raiders place well at Tonasket

Raider Track competed in its first two-meet week with a meet at Tonasket March 31, then in Deer Park April 3.

“The Raider boys scored well in the sprints and throws,” Head Coach Lori Adkins said. “The team aspect of Track & Field was deep in those events.”

At Tonasket, Nathaniel Hall took second in the 100-meter dash in 12.85 seconds. Then in the 200, Hall’s 25.27 time earned him the gold.

Cameron Tillman placed fourth in the 100 at 13.33 seconds. Dominick Cotton placed third in the 200 in 26.55 seconds.

The boys’ 4x100-meter relay team of Hall, Cotton, Cameron and Matthew Tillman placed first with the time of 50.25 seconds.

Katelynn Schilling scored all the team points for the Raider girls at Tonasket. Schilling placed first in the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 2.5 inches. Over at discus, Schilling took third with a throw of 75-11.

“Katelyn held her own in the shot and discus, scoring all 16 points for the Raider girls,” Adkins noted.

Octavio Alejandre placed second in the shot at Tonasket, with a throw of 41-2.5 inches, then placed fourth in the discus at 92-3.

Nathan Morrell beat out Alejandre in the disc, taking third with a throw of 92-4. In Javelin Morrell took fifth with a throw of 86-2.

At Deer Park, the competition was much more intense, with a large field of schools. Schilling continues to have an impressive season, placing sixth with a throw of 31-6 in the shot, against nearly 60 girls who threw at Deer Park. At the discus, Shilling threw a season PR of 88-1 to come home with eighth place.

Alejandre was the only Raider boy to place at Deer Park. He threw 45- 11.5, which placed him third overall. At the disc, he threw 111 feet, but did not place.

This week the Raiders are on Spring Break and will have time off to practice and prep for the next big meet — the Quincy Invitational on April 18.
