Florence Jean Aumick

Florence Jean Aumick, 97, was born April 2, 1918, in the Jewell County, Kan., sod-brick home of Edward Ray and Florence Ruth Pratt. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, from Grand Coulee, Wash., she left to join her Lord Jesus, whom Florence has faithfully served for so many years.

Following her 1936 graduation from high school, Miss Florence Pratt married her life's love Edward B. Aumick in Omak, Wash.,on December 31, 1939. A faithful member of Grand Coulee's United Methodist Church, Florence was active in the United Methodist Women's Club for many years, as well as the Grand Coulee Hospital Auxiliary and the Grand Coulee Senior Citizen Center. Florence had worked as a cook in Omak and at the Coulee Medical Center and all who were fortunate enough to enjoy her food, will attest that she was an excellent cook and baker. As well as performing wonders in the kitchen, Florence enjoyed creating special cards and embroidery, as well as beautiful flowers, especially Roses and Snapdragons.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years Edward B. Aumick; son James Edward Aumick; daughter-in-law Marilyn Aumick; parents Edward Ray and Florence Ruth Pratt; sisters: Mary Thronson and Wilma B. James; and brothers: Robert, John and Bud Pratt; Florence's legacy lives on through her children: Sharon Hollingsworth (Bob), John Aumick, Rod Aumick (Sheila), Mary Jo McCoy, and Scott Aumick (Annie); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and honorary family member Esther DeRusha.

Pastor Paul Ashbrook will officiate for Florence's Memorial Service, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Grand Coulee United Methodist Church, 405 Center, Grand Coulee, Wash. At Florence's request, cremation has taken place, with private urn burial in Grand Coulee's Spring Canyon Cemetery, next to her beloved Edward.
