Robert M. "Bob" Nordhougen, 75, of Coulee Dam, Washington, passed away Tuesday morning, July 21, 2015, in Grand Coulee, Washington. Born April 7, 1940, into the Leeds, North Dakota home of Truman and Evelyn Norhougen, Bob attended college following graduation from Leeds High School. A member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302, Bob served as a Road Construction Project Manager for Cates & Erb, Inc of Omak, Washington until his retirement.
On December 20, 1996, Bob received an early Christmas present, when he married Viola Myrick in Reno, Nevada. Bob attended church in Buckley, Washington before moving to the Coulee Dam Area where he was an active member of both the local Eagles and Moose Clubs; however, those who knew Bob knew he especially loved spending hours on the fairways and greens of Banks Lake Golf Course. Bob was a voracious reader of books, particularly detective novels and biographies, enjoyed cooking, and loved spending time visiting his children and grandchildren. Predeceased by both of his parents; sister, Artice Pierson and brother Gary Nordhougen. Bob's legacy lives on through those who miss him most: his loving wife of 18 years, Viola Myrick-Norhougen; children: Kristi Dawson (Mike), Kari Balmer (Jody), Kyle Nordhougen (Rachael), Kirk Nordhousen and Karmen Nordhougen; stepchildren: Shawn D. Myrick (Shelly) and Laura J. Myrick; seven grandchildren; brothers: Truman Nordhougen (Debbie) and David Nordhougen; sister, JoAnn White; nephews and nieces.
