Hendrickson joins fire

department

Matt Hendrickson is a new member of Coulee Dam’s volunteer fire department. Hendrickson is a certified EMT and has passed all tests. He was voted into the department by the town council at last Wednesday’s council meeting.

City fireworks

Grand Coulee’s city council sent a proposed ordinance on fireworks back to the drawing board in an effort to define where, or if, fireworks could be set off at a designated area. In past years, residents in the area have set off fireworks at North Dam, which is in the city. The reworked ordinance will come up again in a future council meeting.

Port District 7 commissioners have changed the dates for their next three monthly meetings.

In October, the port will meet on Oct. 22, at 4:30 p.m. at the airport and have a public hearing on its 2016 budget. The regular meeting starts at 5 p.m. In November the port will meet on Nov. 19, and in December on Dec. 17. Port district meetings are held at the airport.

Choir to start rehearsing

Christmas

Rehearsals for the community Christmas choir will be Monday evenings beginning October 5, at 7 p.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Grand Coulee. Information is available by calling Kay at 633-3674.

Ferry to

start

winter

hours

The Inchelium-Gifford Ferry will begin winter hours this Thursday. The ferry will begin service at 6:30 a.m. and run until 6:45 p.m. daily. This change is expected to last until March 31, 2016.

drive

The Colville Agency Indian Health Services in Nespelem will host its annual flu drive now through Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the IHS Clinic in Nespelem and is open to everyone age 19 and over.
