News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area

To the friends of the Ridge Riders

Letter to the Editor

As the 2015 season comes to an end, the Ridge Riders Inc. would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their incredible support. We appreciate all that you have done to help us in the past to help make us successful again. There was a time a few years ago that we thought Ridge Riders and Colorama Rodeo was going by the wayside. Thanks to our corporate sponsors, city councils, local businesses and community, we have come back stronger and hope to continue to grow in the future. We added several events, including bringing back the Junior Rodeo, and created the Cleatis Lacy Memorial Bull Riding and Wild Horse Race, two barrel racing clinics and our annual banquet/auction to help with fundraising.

The Colorama Rodeo, one of the first Pro-West rodeos of the season, has twice been selected as Directors’ Choice for Rodeo of the Year. This year, the grounds were full of spectators, with 188 contestants and families visiting the area. The Cleatis Lacy Memorial Bull Riding and Wild Horse Race was also a success. The winner of the bull riding was Jory Markiss, a PBR-class rider from Stephenville, Texas. The Junior Rodeo brought 180 contestants and their families. We hope to improve and add more events like these in the future that will continue to attract hundreds of contestants, contractors, participants and their families to the area and help to support our communities’ livelihood.

Thank you so much for your involvement in our 2015 events; we look forward to seeing you at our events in 2016!

The Ridge Riders
