An annual assembly that had become a big tradition in the now- closed middle school will become a bigger event next month with the all grades attending at Lake Roosevelt Schools.
Organizer and teacher Sandy Hood said all grades, from kindergarten through 12th grade, will attend the Nov. 6 assembly to honor veterans at 9:30 a.m.
Many classes have prepared songs and tributes, the high school band and choir will perform, and seventh- and eighth-graders are writing letters to known local veterans.
“While I have many veteran names and addresses on my list,” Hood noted, “there are many more in our area. All veterans of military service are invited! I only ask that they submit their address so we may write to them in the future.”
A 40-foot banner honoring veterans that was given to the school last year will also be placed in the gym and dedicated.
