Board member honored

Members of the Lake Roosevelt school board were given certificates honoring member services as part of “School Board Appreciation Month.” The certificates were given out by uperintendent Dr. Dennis Carlson.

District buys used bus

The school board approved the purchase of a 27-passenger bus that had been declared surplus by the Chelan School District for $3,000 on Monday night. The purchase had been recommended by both bus director Bill Kemble and Superintendent Dennis Carlson.

School changes

The school board made two hires and accepted one resignation at its meeting Monday night.

Hired were Loren Endsley as winter strength and conditioning coach and Cassie Wendt, assistant winter strength and conditioning coach. The resignation of Evangelina Piturachsatit as 6th-8th grade SHARP Kids after-school program leader was accepted.

School attendance down in Coulee Dam, up in Nespelem

The average student attendance at Lake Roosevelt Schools for January was 674.98, according to a report received by the school board Monday night. This was 5.2 under the budgeted amount of 680 set for the current school year. Attendance was 707 for the same period a year ago.

Nespelem Superintendent Rich Stewart said recently that school attendance had risen to about 120 from 110.

Marchand

The Nespelem School board reorganized Monday and elected Jolene Marchand as chair and newly re-elected Annette Moses as vice chair.

Marchand and Zekkethal Vargas-Thomas, who was just appointed to the board, took the oath of office.

Marchand will also continue to function as the legislative representative to the board.

The board will consider the legislative and WIAA representatives again in June.
