The Lady Raiders won all of three of their games last week, increasing their present win streak to four in a row.
"We have played some decent ball with some of the changes we are making at this time," Head Coach Wallace Pleasants said, "things we feel have helped us get our groove back. We're not scoring a bunch of points, but we are playing together a lot better, which has led to improved play all around."
In the first contest of the week, Lake Roosevelt took on the Hornets of Oroville at home Jan. 19.
The Hornets had trouble making shots and the Lady Raiders took advantage of this to build a lead. Oroville tried to come back, but the Lady Raiders held them off to get the win, 51-45.
Thursday night at home against Liberty Bell, the Lake Roosevelt had to overcome a deficit to gain the win. After a seesaw first half, the Mountain Lions turned cold on offense while LR built a lead. Though the Mountain Lions outscored LR in the fourth quarter, it was too little, too late. LR won 47-41.
Lachelle Bearcub led the Raiders with 14 points. Kayla St. Pierre scored 10. Mysti Dick recorded seven points against Liberty Bell.
The Lady Raiders took on the struggling Fillies at Bridgeport Saturday in a game that was closer than their first matchup; the Lady Raiders won by 13 points rather than 40. The final score was LR 45, Bridgeport 32. Bearcub led with 15 points, while Mariah Boyd tallied 14 against the Fillies.
When asked how the Lady Raiders stack up to their opponents this week, Coach Pleasants said, "We will find out; can't really say due to some of the changes, we are making. Just have to go out and grind, then see what happens."
He did highlight three players for their improved performances as of late: "We have been pleasantly surprised with the rebounding we are getting from St. Pierre, Dick and Lorynn Moore at the guard position."
Last night, the Lady Raiders headed to Manson to take on the Trojans, who were on a four-game losing streak. On Friday, the Lady Raiders take on the Tonasket Tigers in Tonasket starting at 6 p.m. The Tigers are on a three-game losing streak and will be looking to break it against the Lady Raiders.
