Lady Raiders extend win streak to six

The Lady Raiders defeated two teams to propel themselves toward the top of their league last week.

The Lake Roosevelt girls are looking to be either the number-two or -three seed from the North into the district tournament coming up at Eastmont.

At Manson on Jan. 26, the Lady Raiders were able to pull ahead and stay ahead. The Trojans did not come back into it, yielding a final win for LR, 49-24.

Then on the Friday in Tonasket, the Lady Raiders faced a Tonasket squad looking to end a losing streak. LR and Tonasket went back and forth, but the Lady Raiders pulled away. In the end, the Lady Raiders came away with their sixth straight win. The final score was LR 53, Tonasket 41.

This week, for the end of the regular season, the Lady Raiders will be fighting for second place and trying to upset the number-one team. Last night for senior night, the Lady Raiders were scheduled to take on the Brewster Bears. Brewster and LR will decide the number-two seed from the North in the district tournament.

Tomorrow, the Lady Raiders will travel to Okanogan to take on the number-one Okanogan Bulldogs. Okanogan has yet to lose, and has come away from tough games against Chelan and Cashmere with quality wins. All games will start at 6 p.m.

If the Lady Raiders earn the number-two seed, then the first game of districts on Feb. 10 will be at the Eastmont Middle School at 8:30 p.m. against either Kittitas or White Swan. If they are the number-three seed, they will take on Waterville, again at the Middle School, at 5 p.m.
