Raider Baseball began the 2016 season with two wins over their Central Washington North 2B League opponent Bridgeport Mustangs.
LR jumped out ahead early and stayed ahead of the Mustangs. On the mound, Tyrell Kiser, Devan Black, and Kolby Picard had great outings, picking up many strikeouts while allowing only one run in two games.
At the plate, the Raiders had hot bats and scored three or more runs in all but one inning against the Mustangs.
"Good start to our season," Head Coach Billy Nicholson said, noting, "Bridgeport was missing some players and had a young squad as a result."
Nicholson praised his pitchers and batters. "Our pitchers played well and we made routine plays behind our pitchers," he said. "Our lineup scored runs every inning but one."
The Raiders were set to face the Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors last night in Hartline. "Hopefully, we continue our momentum against ACH on Tuesday," Nicholson said.
LR now has a week to prepare for a doubleheader against the Soap Lake Eagles on March 29 at home starting at 2 p.m.
