The Raiders split a doubleheader against the number-one team in the Central Washington 2B North April 5.
With their first win over the Brewster Bears in several years, The Raiders now sport a 7-1 overall win-loss record, 3-1 in CWL North play.
Lake Roosevelt held the Bears, in Brewster, to just one run in the first game while the Raider offense scored five, with three Raider runs coming in the first inning.
"Tyrell Kiser pitched well," noted Coach Billy Nicholson, who also praised Kiser's play at the plate: "We had some timely hits, including a 2-run 2B by Kiser in the first inning." He also praised Devan Black, who "added a big RBI double in the fifth inning."
The final score in the first game was LR 5, Brewster 1.
But the Bears came to life in the second game.
Early on, the Raiders were up by two runs on a Chance Garvin first-inning home run. Then, Coach Nicholson said, "we made some mistakes in the second inning, and Brewster scored seven runs in the inning to take control of the game."
Brewster won it 13-3.
Raider baseball will return to action Saturday in Okanogan against the new top team in the CWL North, the Bulldogs. Okanogan has defeated 1A Chelan and Lakeside, and has allowed only three runs in CWL play. The Bulldogs have yet to be defeated this season.
The double-header starts at 11 a.m.
Next Tuesday, the Raiders travel to Oroville to take on the Hornets in a double-header, starting at 3 p.m. The Hornets are struggling and have yet to record a win.
