City OKs beer tent

The Grand Coulee City Council approved Mayor Paul Townsend sending a letter of support for the chamber of commerce’s plan to have a beer tent at North Dam Park during the Colorama Festival celebration. The times will be from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday, May 5; 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, May 6; and 3 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, May 7.

If you are looking for broken, no longer needed, falling apart, outdated or scrap items, the city of Grand Coulee has some “surplused” items for you. You can get a list of items from city hall. Many are still usable or will provide parts for items you now have. Make your deal at city hall.

Branding health

To celebrate National Public Health Week, Grant County Health District launched its new interactive website and its 2015 video annual report at http://www.granthealth.org. In 2015, GCHD focused on its new branding, which included a logo, social media accounts and a new website.

The Colville Tribes Land Use Review Board will hold a public hearing to make a ruling on the development of the second floor of the Coulee Dam Casino. The hearing will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, at the Lucy Covington government facility. Written comments will be received until 4 p.m. on April 26. The project includes a new restaurant, bar, kitchen, a new deck, gaming upstairs and a new entrance.

Time for flags

If you want a flag dedicated in honor of a veteran on the coming Memorial Day, you have until May 20 to make arrangements. If you want to do so, contact Ben Alling, with the Isle of Flags organization, at (509) 633-0663.

Golf league sign- ups starting

The Merchants League tournament sign-up date and ice-breaker scramble is set for 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Banks Lake Golf Course.

The entry fee for the four-member teams is $100.

Play will begin Wednesday, May 4, and on following Wednesdays at 5 p.m.
