A trip by the senior class at Lake Roosevelt High School to San Francisco was approved the the school board May 23.
The trip had been outlined to the board earlier, but approval was held up pending completion of paperwork.
The board learned that 25 seniors have signed up for the trip and will take off for California on Sunday, May 29, along with five adults who will be accompanying this year’s senior class.
The seniors and adult chaperones will leave by school bus at 3:30 a.m., Sunday to go to Seattle, where they will catch a flight to San Jose.
The following day the group will leave for San Francisco, where members will visit Alcatraz Island and have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe on Pier 39, with Golden State Park, Chinatown, Little Italy and Twin Peaks also on the schedule.
The group will bus back to San Jose, where members will visit the Winchester Mansion, Tuesday before boarding a flight for Seattle.
The seniors and those accompanying them will return to Lake Roosevelt at 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 31.
Those accompanying the seniors will be Shelly Black, Susan Duclos, Paul Turner, Tracy White and Kathy Baty.
The board also approved a trip for the music department for Silverwood Park in Idaho.
Music teacher Karen Pace advised the board that approximately 45 band and choir members will leave for Silverwood Theme Park on June 1, to take part in a music performance.
Music students from grades 7-12 will take part in the performance and then have some free time at the theme park. Students will be admitted at a reduced rate and have held a fundraiser to pay expenses.
