The Grand Coulee Dam School District hired a dean of students and a new athletic director at Monday night’s board meeting.
Dean of students at Lake Roosevelt High School for the next school term will be Charles Pierce, from Soap Lake.
Pierce will be in his final year for his principal certification at Whitworth College during the 2016-17 term.
A person well known to hoop sports fans here, Levi Seekins, will take over as Lake Roosevelt’s athletic director, replacing Richard Black, who will retire in August. Black was named to the school board at its last meeting.
Seekins is a 2002 graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School and was a star basketball player on the Raider team.
He returns to the area from Southern California, where he worked for a private corporation and assisted in the Vanguard University athletic program.
He will also do substitute teaching, school officials stated.
Other hires include Phyllis Melberg, to assist in the summer Sharp KIDS programs, then as an assistant cook in the fall. Physical education teacher Loren Endsley was hired as a 21st Century summer fitness coordinator.
The board also accepted the resignations of Geary Oliver, head football coach at Lake Roosevelt High School, and Brad Oliver, assistant football coach
