The rehearsals begin early in September for both the Orchestra and the Chorus sponsored by Okanogan Valley Orchestra & Chorus. This volunteer group gathers once a week for practice and performs in four concerts throughout the year. No auditions are necessary; simply join in on the first rehearsal night.
The Chorus, under the direction of Jonathan McBride, meets on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Omak HS Choir room. Since the first rehearsal this year falls on a holiday, the group will meet for that one night only at the Omak Presbyterian Church, 9 Birch Street S, Omak, Monday, September 5, at 7 p.m. Orchestra rehearsals at the Omak HS Band room run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 6.
OVOC is thrilled to announce that Matt Brown joins the OVOC Orchestra as Director for the 2016-17 season! Matt is currently in his 12th year of teaching music at Manson Secondary School. Matt has also been vocal coach for Chelan Valley Players and OVOC for their musicals, including last spring’s production of “The Addams Family.”
Matt lives in Chelan with his wife, Julie, and children, Levi and Lucy. With OVOC he hopes to create an interactive listening experience where, as a listener, you feel a deep connection to the music. With this year’s concert season (October 16, December 4, February 12 and April 2), Matt hopes to spark your interest or renew your passion for classical music. Season tickets offer a considerable savings for the four-concert season, and they are on sale now. Visit http://www.ovocinfo.com or contact Concert Coordinator Judy Johnston at 509-429-1945.
