Council

replacement delayed

Grand Coulee Council voted last week to delay the selection of a replacement for Erin Neilson, who resigned from the council recently, until all members of the council are present. Tammara Byers was not present at last Tuesday’s meeting. There are two applicants for position four on the council — Alan Cain and Mike Horne.

Pre-Halloween fun planned

Parents of kids who can’t wait until Monday to use that Halloween costume can take their kids to either or both upcoming events this week.

The Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center Thursday from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. serves as a quick trial run. The seniors will host a festive atmosphere with decorations, costumes, and candy, said Darla Orr, senior meals program coordinator at the center.

The cooks, staff and many members will be dressed in costume, but not scary ones, Orr said, so as not to scare the little ones.

She thought the 45-minute window of time that evening could fit well with parents of small children; it’s before dinner and bedtime, and after a typical day shift.

The Grand Coulee Library will have a special Halloween Storytime, Friday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m. The library staff encourages kids to wear their Halloween costumes. There will be Halloween stories, games and treats. All kids are welcome to attend. Call the library at 633-0972, with any questions.

Book sale planned

The Coulee Medical Center Guild will hold a book sale in the hospital lobby from 11 a.m. to

7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Veterans special section coming

The Star will publish a special section honoring all local veterans Nov. 9. The annual section features photos and names of those who have served in the armed forces. Deadline for submitting new photos and names for

publication is Friday, Nov. 4.
