The Lady Raiders basketball team is 6-2 in the league after decimating Bridgeport on the road last Tuesday, 63-36, then defeating Waterville at home on Saturday, 42-31.
The girls are ranked 17th in the state for 2B schools, according to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. The ranking does not yet factor in two of the ladies' wins.
Lake Roosevelt tried out some new techniques against the Bridgeport Fillies, and it paid off with a 27-point win.
"It was one of those games where it seems like offensively and defensively everything worked," said Head Coach Wallace Pleasants. "We tried out a few different things so we don't show the same stuff all the time and it seemed to work pretty well."
Against the Waterville Shockers, Lake Roosevelt took the lead early and managed to hold onto it throughout the entire game. LR led 20-12 at the half.
Mariah Boyd led the Raiders with 21 points.
Pleasants attributed the win to effort, consistency, and staying disciplined,
"We've been working hard on being more consistent in what we do," he said. "We're definitely a lot stronger on our defensive work than our offense, but you know, baby steps. As long as we get it all clicking by the end of the season I'll be happy."
The girls won a home game last night against the Oroville Lady Hornets, 63-34. Details will follow next week.
The ladies travel to Brewster Thursday to face the Lady Bears, beginning with the junior varsity game at 4:30 p.m. The next home event is Tuesday, January 17, when the Lady Raiders will take on the Liberty Bell Lady Mountain Lions, with games also scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
