The Lady Raiders softball team started the season off with two decisive victories against Manson in last Saturday's doubleheader in Grand Coulee, trouncing the Lady Trojans 27-0 in the first game, and 31-2 in the second.
It was a blustery day in Grand Coulee, but the games went on as scheduled, and the winds blew in the Lady Raiders' favor as they came away with two lopsided victories.
The games were cut to three innings each because of the large point margin.
The Lady Raider defense shined as pitchers Tristen Adolph, Gloria Michel, and Cassidy Reyes threw 11 strikeouts out of only 22 at bats between the two games. There were no fielding errors either from the Lady Raider defense.
Khani Priest hit a home run over the fence in the first game, as well as an in-park home run in the second. Sean Garvin had three in-park home runs as well.
"It was a great way to start the season for us," said Head Coach Alissa Mansker.
The Lady Raiders played in Oroville yesterday, results of which will be in next week's Star. The girls then travel to Bridgeport for a doubleheader against the Fillies, with the first game scheduled for 11 a.m. Their next home game is hosting the Oroville Lady Hornets on Tuesday, March 28, on their field at the former middle school in Grand Coulee at 4:30 p.m.
