Raiders beat the Trojans in opener

The Lake Roosevelt Raiders defeated the Manson Trojans twice in Saturday's doubleheader, winning the first game 11-2, and the second 13-1.

Saturday was a windy day in Coulee Dam, but no one complained about it, according to Raider Head Coach Billy Nicholson.

One highlight came in the first game when senior Darian Lindsey, playing right field, threw a Trojan runner out at home plate, requiring a hard, fast, far, and accurate throw from Lindsey to catcher Kolby Picard to end the inning and a Manson rally.

Six Raider runs in the fourth inning helped LR to pull away in the first game's 11-2 victory.

Another feat came from senior pitcher Tyrell Kiser, who struck out six Trojans in four innings to help with the 13-1 victory in the second game.

Freshman Cameron St. Pierre hit the lone homer in the games. "He blasted it in the left center gap with one runner on," Nicholson said.

"It was a good start to the season in both pitching and hitting for our young team," remarked Nicholson.

The Raiders played the Oroville Hornets in Oroville yesterday, results of which will be in next week's Star.

The Raiders' next games are a doubleheader in Bridgeport against the Mustangs with the first game scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. The Raiders will host the Oroville Hornets on Tuesday, March 28, at 4:30 p.m. in Coulee Dam.
