Raiders defeat Oroville Hornets, fall to Liberty Bell Mountain Lions

The Lake Roosevelt Raiders baseball team defeated the Oroville Hornets in both games of a doubleheader March 28, 20-0 and 20-2.

"Everyone played well on defense, and our pitchers did a good job throwing strikes," said Raider Head Coach Billy Nicholson. "Our hitters put the ball in play and ran the bases aggressively."

The Raiders weren't so lucky hosting the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions, losing both games, with final scores of 5-2 and 14-3.

But those games weren't without their Raider highlights. In the first game, Tony Nichols hit a home run, and Hunter Whitelaw batted Trevon Johnson home for the other run. Kolby Picard was on base all three at bats, with a single and two walks.

"Tyrell Kiser pitched a good game," Nicholson said. "Their pitching staff did a good job keep our hitters off balance."

Kiser also hit a home run in the second game. Steven Flowers hit a double in each game.

The Raiders next play Saturday April 8 in Omak against the Pioneers, scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Their next home game is on Tuesday, April 11, at 4:30 p.m. against the Pateros Billygoats.
