The Lake Roosevelt Raiders baseball team won their last three games to bring their league record to 9-5, the fourth best in the league behind Liberty Bell (10-1), Soap Lake (11-3), and Brewster (12-2).
On April 18 in Pateros, the Raiders scored five runs in the second inning to help with their 11-5 victory over the Billygoats.
“We played well on both sides of the ball,” said Head Coach Billy Nicholson. “Nick Baker hit a home run, Tyrell (Kiser) scored three runs. Kolby Picard had 10 (strikeouts). Johnson pitched well in relief.”
Six runs in the second inning of the first game of a doubleheader were the deciding factor in the Raiders’ 8-2 victory over the Tigers in Tonasket Saturday.
“Picard relieved Kiser and pitched well,” Nicholson said. Nichols saved the game. Our defense played well as we turned two double plays in the infield.”
The second game in the doubleheader was closer, with the Raiders scoring four runs in the fifth inning, beating out the Tigers’ one run in the same inning, the only points scored in the 4-1 Raider win.
“We played a good second game, with Tyrell Kiser and Tony Nichols only giving up one run,” Nicholson said. “Darian Lindsey made a nice catch in deep right center to stop a rally. Trevon Johnson started a four-run rally in the top of the fifth with a walk. Kiser, Picard, and Whitelaw all had singles to knock in runs.”
The Raiders are winding their regular season down. They played at home against Waterville yesterday, results of which will be printed in next week’s Star. Their next games are on Saturday at home against Soap Lake for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m., and a game in Waterville against the Shockers on Tuesday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m.
