Softball wins three

The Lady Raiders defeated the Pateros Nannies, then tore up the Tonasket Lady Tigers in both games of a softball doubleheader last week.

In Pateros April 19, the Lady Raiders won 8-5 against the Nannies.

"It was a very tough game for us," said Head Coach Alissa Mansker. "We are not used to a grass infield, which caused a lot of crazy bounces."

Then in Tonasket on Saturday, the Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Tigers 10-1, then 20-10. "We did great at bat and were able to execute great base running, as well," Mansker said.

"Great batting came through in both Pateros and Tonasket," Mansker added. "We had an excellent comeback following our losses to Brewster and Okanogan."

The victories put the Lady Raiders' league win-loss record at 11-2, second in the league, ahead of Liberty Bell (7-3) and behind Brewster (13-0).

The Lady Raiders played Waterville at home yesterday, results of which will be in next week's Star. Their remaining games in the regular season include a doubleheader at home against Soap Lake on Saturday, with the first game scheduled for 11 a.m., then a game in Waterville on Tuesday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m.
