Calling all musicians: you're needed

Local musicians can add to school pep band

Dust off your old musical instruments and get back in tune; the community needs you!

Lake Roosevelt High School wants parents and community members who have musical talent and no place to apply it to join with students and form a pep band to play at school sporting events.

Music director Karen Pace said Monday that it is her hope that local musicians who love music and like to play will step forward and help out.

Pace said that community members can come out this Thursday night to the band room at the high school gym and get started, or show up Friday night at the high school football game, instrument in hand.

“I especially need brass instrument players,” Pace stated.

Pace is in her third year as music director for the district.

Pace also noted that a special school music event was held Aug. 23-25, with 14 band members showing up to get a head start on the year.

Pace said she hopes the community pep band idea will build through the football season into the basketball season and become a permanent fixture at sporting events.
