Jami Diane Powell Akers passed into the arms of her eternal heavenly father on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. She was born May 15, 1969, at Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee, Washington. Jami was a very happy child, and loved soccer, swimming, and playing Rummy with her infamous Grannie Retta, Grandma Jean and her mother's two sisters, Shannon and Heather. She was also a very proud enrolled Choctaw from the ancestral lineage of Mattie Matilda May Tubby McCarter.
She attended her entire K-12 school years in the Eastmont School System, her parents' alma mater, graduating in the Class of 1987. She graduated from Wenatchee Valley College in 2005 from the RN program. She was employed by Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee, Washington, excelling to Director of Nursing. She was recruited by Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Washington, as Appoint of Entry Manager CNO, until her passing.
Jami married Charles (Charlie) Allen Powell on October 6, 1989.
Jami kept a beautiful home, but when it came to her son or family, dishes would wait. We won't forget her words: easy-peasy, no big too dooey, and her crazy crochet hats. She was resilient and tenacious, and her integrity was flawless. Jami sparkled. She was hilarious and will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her son, Joshua Douglas Allen Powell, of Moses Lake; Charlie Powell, of Moses Lake; parents Charles Douglas and Sherry Ann Fox Akers of East Wenatchee; sister Kimberly Ann Akers of East Wenatchee; maternal and paternal aunts and uncles, many cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Sept 2, 2017, at Telford's Chapel of the Valley, 711 Grant Road, East Wenatchee.
