Good fun and food offered this weekend at North Dam, golf course

Two events planned

Two entertaining events are planned for Saturday this week.

You can take part in the “Breast Cancer Awareness Color Me Pink and Purple” fun run and walk, sponsored by the Coulee Medical Center Guild and Radiology Department, Omni Staffing, Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union and North Cascades Bank.

(See the entry form on page 5 in today’s Star.)

The run/walk begins at 11 a.m. at North Dam Park. Late registration will start at 10 a.m.

All participants will receive a T-shirt, gift and a chance to win a Costco gift card.

All money from the run stays local to assist the cost of mammograms, to help people with the cost of screening.

A lunch and bake sale will begin at 11:30, and proceeds go to benefit Cancer Care Northwest, of Spokane. Lunch is a bread bowl filled with clam chowder or chili, a slice of cheesecake and a drink for $15.

Also on Saturday, there will be a Coulee Community Chili Cook Off, at Banks Lake Golf Course, with a tasting starting at 4 p.m. Ballots to declare the winner will be tallied at 5:30, with the winner announced at 6.

The golf course will have a no-host bar, plus a dessert bar with multiple homemade selections.

There will be multiple door prizes with drawings throughout the evening.

All the proceeds will benefit the Meals on Wheels program.
