The Lady Raiders won their first game back from spring break on the road against the Pateros Nannies.
In Pateros on April 9, the LR Ladies emerged the victor, 16-6.
“Gloria [Michel] pitched well,” Head Coach Alissa Mansker said. “The strike zone given to her was not forgiving; she threw strikes all night that were being called as outside the zone, and there isn’t much you can do there except hope the opposing team swings.
“Finally the other team caught on and began getting some contact, allowing for our defense to make plays. Our outfield players had to be on their toes to stop anything that came out there to avoid extra bases, and they did that. Not one ball had to be run after in the game.”
The Lady Raiders defense had three double-plays in the game, from Kyona Edmo and Kayla St. Pierre when they each played shortstop, and from Cassidy Reyes, who played third base.
Offensively, Mansker highlighted Olivia “Oly” Ludwig, who hit an in-the-park homerun, and Edmo, who hit well.
The Lady Raiders have a busy schedule in the next week. They play Okanogan in a doubleheader at home in Grand Coulee on Thursday, April 12, with the first game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. On Friday the 13th, they travel to Brewster to test their luck against the Lady Bears in a doubleheader, with the first game scheduled for 4 p.m. On Tuesday, April 17, they play the Pateros Nannies at home at 4:30 p.m.
