Performances coming up

Young students at Lake Roosevelt School will put on an elementary musical called “School Is Cool” Thursday at 1:30 p.m. It’s written by four fifth-grade students. Acting is done by the fifth- and sixth-grade students, with a chorus consisting of the third- and fourth-graders. They will perform it in the elementary school gym.

Donations accepted

The Grand Coulee Dam School District board approved donations at their meeting Monday night: $3,000 from Colville Tribes to the Northwest Indian Youth Conference for the Native American Club, and $500 for the Senior Class senior trip; $1,000 from Bettina Torres to the Native American Club.

Fire, ambulance calls reported

Grand Coulee’s Volunteer Fire Department has made nine fire calls and 129 ambulance calls so far this year, Chief Richard Paris reported to the city council April 17. Of those calls, the department made three fire calls in March and 32 ambulance calls last month. Of the fire calls, one was a controlled burn that had gotten out of control and another a horse rescue operation.

In ambulance calls, nine were from Coulee Dam and 10 from Grand Coulee, with a total of 13 calls that involved transport.

Fire district, city continue contract

Electric City agreed to a contract with Grant County Fire District 14, to provide firefighting services. It was a renewal of the same contract that has been ongoing. The fire district agrees to pay Electric City $5,000 for the service.
