Free food offered this Thursday

The Coulee Dam Federal Credit Union, in conjunction with 2nd Harvest, is sponsoring a “free food distribution” Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church parking lot.

It will be the third year that the credit union has sponsored the program here in the coulee area.

The 2nd Harvest mobile food bank truck will be in the church parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon this Thursday issuing food to anyone who shows up.

Food items include perishable produce and more.

A credit union spokesperson stated that while the “free food distribution” program is for families in need of food assistance, it is open to anyone.

Persons attending for food items are asked to bring their own containers, sacks or boxes.

No appointment is needed, nor documentation required, to be the recipient of the food.

Persons who have questions about the free food program are asked to call Shawn at the 24-hour Mobile Food Bank phone, 509-252-6270.

Thursday’s program also has support from Asuris Northwest Health, and permission from Zion Lutheran Church to use its lot for the distribution.

The credit union’s sponsorship of the “free food” program began in September 2016.
