Congressional candidate holding town hall Wednesday night

A candidate for Congress announced a tour of the state’s 4th Congressional District that includes a town-hall meeting tonight (Wednesday) in Coulee Dam and a coffee shop visit the next morning.

The Christine Brown for Congress campaign announced last week a “Big Table Tour” that includes stops in small towns. It started in Oroville on Monday morning.

Brown will hold a public meeting at Coulee Dam Town Hall, 300 Lincoln Avenue, tonight from 6-8 p.m. The next morning from 8-10 a.m. she’ll hold a “Coffee with Christine” at Voltage Coffee House, 140 Spokane Way, in Grand Coulee.

Brown, a Democrat, is running for the seat held by Republican Rep. Dan Newhouse.

“I’m running for Congress because Eastern Washington deserves a Representative who listens to all voices at the table,” Brown said in a statement sent out by her campaign Sunday. “My Big Table Tour will stop in many small communities in the 4th District to talk to about the issues face to face.”

The former Tri-Cities TV news anchor and station manager acknowledges facing a big hurdle to unseat Newhouse, who in 2016 won a second term by a 15-point margin in the conservative district that includes most of the Grand Coulee Dam community. The district’s eastern edge butts up against the 5th Congressional District, represented by Cathy McMorris Rodgers, from Lincoln County east.

The “Big Table” label on her seven-day tour refers to her promise to listen to all of her constituents, including Republicans.
