Change is in the air in the Grand Coulee Dam School District, including the resignation of the Lake Roosevelt Junior/Senior High School principal.
Principal Mark Herndon will resign from that position and take on a new position as the Career Technical Education/Career/Alternative Learning Environment director and teacher.
The CTE will be opening this fall as an institution whose goal is training students in skills they can use toward professions as they enter adulthood, starting with a certified nursing assistant training program in fall of 2018, and branching out in fall of 2019.
Other resignations approved by the school board Monday night include Jenny Schumaker, who is resigning as the librarian on the junior/senior high side of the school; and Jeremiah Seekins, who is resigning as a high school math teacher.
New hires approved by the board include: Serena Condon, high school P.E./health teacher; Jessica Tufts, high school math teacher; elementary teachers Michelle Miller and Rocio Tirado; paraprofessionals Andy Hatton and Marcy Manderscheid; Jesse Utz, National Honor Society advisor; and Annette Timentwa, World Language (Salish) teacher.
