Donna May Benton

Donna May Benton, 78, of Elmer City, Washington and Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away in Bullhead City, Arizona on November 18, 2017. Donna was born March 4, 1939, in Polson, Montana, to Jimmy and Josephine (Keller) Cook. Her family moved to the Grand Coulee area during the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam. Donna attended school in Grand Coulee and graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1956 - Go Tigers! She then moved to Spokane, Washington, and worked for the telephone company prior to moving back to the Grand Coulee area where she raised her family. On July 28, 1972, Donna married her high school sweetheart Jack (Jake) Benton. They spent many happy years together enjoying being part of the community they both grew up in and boating on local waterways and the Puget Sound area. Donna retired from Bank of America (originally Seattle First National Bank) after 33 years of dedicated service to the banking industry.

After retirement Donna and Jake enjoyed traveling throughout the US andeventually settled in Lake Havasu City, Arizona for their second home. This home was a welcome stop for many friends and family as they made their way south.

They also enjoyed attending the PBR Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas every year and many other rodeo events down south. Donna was a fabulous cook and never disappointed when hosting a get-together.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, younger brother Richie and her son Dale. Donna is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jake; brothers: Jim and Ron Cook; daughters: Dondi and her husband Craig Koester and their two children Noah and Lexie, Glennis (Jeff) and her son Jacob DeCloedt and his wife Tori and their three children Zander, Zayn and Zoey.

Family and friends of Donna are invited to her celebration of life service on Monday June 18 , at Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee at noon. The Eagles club will be hosting a luncheon after the service.
