Defense still hasn't allowed an opponent to score
The Raiders walloped the Kettle Falls Bulldogs at home on Friday, winning by a score of 69-0.
Steven Flowers and Tony Nichols took turns running in touchdowns, first Flowers, then Nichols, then Nichols again with a 71-yard touchdown run, then Flowers again.
"It was great to come out and establish a tone early," said Coach Tim Rasmussen. "We really focused on running the ball."
The Raiders racked up 325 rushing yards for the game, over 400 yards of offense total.
"We just really wanted to work all week on front line play," Rasmussen said. "Every single one of our touchdowns in the first quarter was a run."
"Nichols had a huge game," Rasmussen said. The senior had 137 rushing yards over five carries, and two TDs.
Nichols also returned four punts, for an average gain of 28 yards.
Flowers threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Kaleb Horn with 2:39 left in the first half. The Bulldogs started their drive when Raider Sonny Boyd recovered a fumble. Then Malachi Rasmussen ran 32 yards for a touchdown with 2:11 left in the half; the Raiders had scored twice in just 28 seconds.
LR led 55-0 at the half and 69-0 at the end of the game, leaving the Raiders with a 4-0 win-loss record.
Hunter Whitelaw ran in two touchdowns and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Rasmussen. Field goal kicker Jonathan Cante hit nine out of 10 extra-point attempts.
"They came out and did a good job," Coach Rasmussen said.
The Raiders play this Friday, Oct. 5, in Oroville against the 2-3 Hornets, starting at 7 p.m.
