Runners place at Tonasket

Raider cross country competed at the Tonasket Invite on Thursday, producing a first in the junior high race, a second in the high school girls’ race, and a fourth in the high school boys’ race.

“Tonasket was brutally tough for the runners, but they all stepped up their game and had great finishes,” said Coach Travis Adams. “The course was full of hills equipped with hard dirt surfaces, and the down sides of them were steep and narrow.”

LR standouts for the day were Soarin’ Marchand, Hannah Wapato, and Chase Marchand.

In the 2.4-mile high school races, Soarin’ Marchand finished fourth overall in the high school boys’ race with a time of 16 minutes, 25 seconds. Wapato finished second overall in the high school girls’ race in 19:20.

In the middle school 1.4-mile race, Chase Marchand finished first in 8:33.

“All of our runners are getting both mentally and physically stronger,” Adams said. “Look for us to compete at our best this Wednesday in Omak. I’m hoping this is the week that everybody on our team reaches their preseason goals they set at the first practice.”

The Raiders are running in Omak today, Oct. 3, at East Side Park. The junior high races are scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

LR will run at Lake Woods Golf Course in Brewster Tuesday, Oct. 9, also starting at 4 p.m.
