Lady Raiders win bronze in tourney

Drop two in league

The Lady Raiders lost a couple of matches this past week, but took bronze at a tournament in Ephrata.

In Manson on Oct. 9, the Lady Raiders lost in three sets, with Manson winning 25-20, 25-21, 25-15.

“We served great, making 51 of 57 as a team,” said Head Coach Teri Sue Reed. “Gloria Michel and Jozlyn Hansen stood out in the back row with breakout games. Even though the two of them had amazing passes, the front row struggled getting an offense together.”

The Lady Raiders lost to the Brewster Lady Bears at home on Oct. 11. The Lady Bears won in four sets with the scores 25-12, 25-27, 25-18, and 25-16.

“A string of missed serves and mental mistakes contributed to this loss,” Reed said.

Mikaylah Thompson stood out in the game for the Lady Raiders, leading in aces with four, eight digs and 10 kills.

Thompson and Ellie Hansen each had two blocks.

In the independent tournament in Ephrata, which doesn’t count toward the team’s win-loss record, the Lady Raiders took the bronze, winning against Reardan twice, beating Tonasket, but losing against Prosser and Manson.

The Lady Raiders played yesterday against Waterville/Mansfield, results of which will be reported in next week’s issue of The Star.

They play on Thursday, Oct. 18, at home against the Tonasket Lady Tigers, with the junior varsity team, starting things off at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Lady Raiders travel to Soap Lake to take on the Lady Eagles, also starting at 5:30 p.m.
