Raiders defeat Soap Lake

Playing Bears for league championship Friday

The Lake Roosevelt Raiders played a friendly game of football with the Soap Lake Eagles on Friday night in Coulee Dam, defeating them 38-20 to go 7-0 in LR's overall win-loss record.

The highlight of the first half was a 93-yard touchdown pass from Raider senior Steven Flowers to Trevor McCraigie.

Flowers had an outstanding game both on offense and defense, rushing for five touchdowns on offense, and leading the team in tackles with 14 on defense. Flowers also forced a fumble that was recovered by Raider Tyler Jordan.

"We got a lot of kids playing time, had some younger kids step up," remarked Raider Coach Tim Rasmussen. "Overall, it was a good team win. It was exciting to get a win on homecoming."

Soap Lake did manage to score a few times on LR. With a kickoff return for a touchdown in the first half, a fumble return for a touchdown, and an eight-yard run, the Eagles scored more on the unbeaten Raider than any team this season.

This Friday the Raiders will face off against a team who may be their most formidable opponent: the Brewster Bears. The Bears are, like the Raiders, 5-0 in the league, but 6-2 overall.

"We'd love for people to come out and watch," Rasmussen said. "It's the league championship game; two good ball clubs both representing their schools well. We're excited to host it."

The Raiders-Bears game will take place this Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in Coulee Dam.
