News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area

Thank you, thank you, thank you

The Care and Share Food Bank has received over one ton of donations from our small communities with big HEARTS In the last two weeks.

The high school homecoming drive, Boy Scouts, Coulee Medical Center, plus other smaller drives did a great job of adding to our stores, and we would like to THANK YOU, each and every one.

The high school did a hygiene drive during homecoming and the products have been well received — items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, plus bar soap, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, to name a few of the items. Thank you, high schoolers, for thinking outside the box — hygiene products are an expense.

The last weight on the Boy Scouts’ food was over 1,600 pounds and will be so helpful to get us through the winter months. We will be giving away some of the mac and cheese that was delivered on November 30. Thank you for the generous giving so the Boy Scouts could gather and bring it to us.

Coulee Medical Center brought us so many good things Friday, and a lot of it went straight on our shelves and was gone by the end of the day. Thank you, CMC, for your wonderful efforts.

Now that we are through the Thanksgiving giveaway, we are starting to get ready for the Christmas one, putting things aside and making orders. Remember us at Safeway when you are getting your groceries and purchase a bag for us.

A great big shout out to the folks that bring us cash to keep us operating. Thank you to the young feller that brings us cash to buy meat with.

I would also like to thank all of our volunteers who do the behind-the-scenes work, stocking shelves, cleaning, carrying out clients’ food.

Food and cash donations are always welcome at any time; we are open for your generous donations Fridays from noon to 4. Thank you to everyone for your generosity. Remember to check your use-by date when giving.
