Raiders lead league 4-1 after win and loss

The Raiders lost to a league rival last week before beating another on Friday to retain the top spot in their league.

Lake Roosevelt led Oroville by a handful of points most of the game Dec. 11, with a 26-23 halftime score.

Although LR was up by seven points at one point in the third quarter, the Hornets took the lead briefly, and the game was tied 42-42 at the start of the fourth.

The large crowd roared with cheers and boos from fans for both teams. Some referee calls were met with very strong reactions from the crowd.

In the end, Oroville scored 19 points in the fourth quarter, as LR scored 14, with the Hornets winning 61-56.

That five-point loss stands in contrast to the Raiders' 20-point defeat of the Tonasket Tigers Friday night in Tonasket.

The 72-52 win puts the Raiders first in the Central Washington 2B league with a 4-1 overall win-loss record. Brewster has a 4-2 record, and Oroville has a 3-2 record.

The Raiders played yesterday against Okanogan in a non-league game, results of which will be reported in next week's Star.

They'll play in Brewster against the bears Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Their next home game is Saturday, Dec. 22, in a non-league game against Warden, with the boys' varsity team scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
