Lady Raiders at top of league with 16-1 record

The Lady Raiders are continuing to dominate their opponents, winning all five of their games and leaving all opponents behind with combined scoring of 76-10.

The Lady Raiders defeated the Pateros Nannies 14-4 at home on April 30.

"Complete team effort with the bats," Head Coach Jaci Gross said about the win, in which LR had 11 hits to Pateros' four.

Cassidy Reyes pitched for the Lady Raiders, striking out six batters while allowing just four hits, and walking four.

The Raiders defeated Manson twice May 2 in a doubleheader in Grand Coulee, 15-0 and 14-1.

The games marked the Lady Raiders' "senior night," and every senior got a hit.

LR's seniors on the softball team are Addison Hansen, Lily Clark, Haley Neddo, Olivia Campbell, Cassidy Reyes, and Kelsie Olbricht, who have "led the way this year," Gross said. "Our seniors have led us this far with their leadership and talent."

Reyes pitched six strikeouts and allowed just two hits in the first game, and Emma Marchand pitched six strikeouts in the second game, allowing zero hits.

The Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Eagles in Soap Lake Saturday in both games of a doubleheader, 15-4 and 18-1.

Lake Roosevelt's 18 hits "sealed the quick win," Gross said about the three-inning second game, in which Reyes and Hansen each hit a homer.

"We continue to dedicate our games to Terry Warnecke, our pitching coach, who was so much more to us than just our pitching coach," Gross said. "Our team is devastated that TW lost his battle at Sacred Heart. But our season will go on, in honor of TW."

The Lady Raiders played Bridgeport at home in a doubleheader yesterday, results of which will be reported in next week's Star.

The softball districts tournament will be held May 14 and 16, with locations and opponents still to be decided, but the top two seeds in the league will host games, making it likely the Lady Raiders will play at 5 p.m. May 14 against the winner of the previous game played by lower seeds.

The Lady Raiders have a win-loss record of 14-1 in the Central Washington 2B league, and 16-1 overall.

Also at the top of the league are Brewster (15-1, 17-3) and Tonasket (12-4, 13-6).

"We are where we want to be in terms of league standings," Gross said. "This has been an amazing year full of joy and incredible loss (Warnecke). The girls have had to deal with a great deal more than just softball, and I am so proud of each and every one of them, Emma Marchand in particular. We are looking forward to the playoffs and playing the level of softball that we are capable of."
